Another end to end

My first blog was 'a blog for lejog' - Lands End to John O'Groats, the UK's iconic 'end to end' ride. This blog will be about another iconic end to end, from the northern-most point of New Zealand's North Island, Cape Reinga, the southern-most point of its South Island, Bluff - the Tour Aotearoa.  The Tour Aotearoa is about 3000km long with about 30,000m of ascent, and 30 days to do it in - well you can take as long as you like, but 30 days seems to sit well with 3,000km and 30,000m. About 40% of it is off road, and New Zealand is hilly - which is to say that compared to this, Lejog sounds easy, and my legs have aged a few years. Anyway, it isn't happening yet. Like Lejog, it has been on my mind a few years and I can't remember when I first heard about it, but as soon as I did I wanted to do it.
